Drive through the Adelaide Hills

The Adelaide Hills are only a short 20 minute drive from Adelaide's city centre. There are over 1000 kilometres of walking trails, wineries, historic townships, wildlife sanctuaries, restaurants and many inviting coffee shops and traditional pubs. Pass apple orchards, sheep grazing, locals playing Cricket, Aussie rules football and more. The highest peak, Mt Lofty Summit, rises 2385 feet and provides a glorious view of the city and the ocean. On a clear day you can often see as far as Yorke Peninsula on the other side of Gulf St Vincent.

Hahndorf is Australia's oldest German settlement. The main street is lined with craft shops, private museums, galleries, quaint coffee shops, delicatessens, German bakeries and a cellar door for a local winery. Birdwood is home to Australia's largest collection of vintage, veteran and classic cars and motorcycles. Aldgate and Stirling are renowned for their glorious autumn season, when the rolling green hills turn into various shades of red, orange and yellow.

Cleland Wildlife Park allows visitors to see many native animals, such as kangaroos and koalas, which have plenty of room to move in a free range setting. Warrawong Sanctuary is an area that has been returned to its natural environment to protect the the original flora and fauna. Sunrise and Sunset tours highlight Australia's many nocturnal animals.
